I was really not feeling working out today. It took me several hours to come around to it. I hate when this happens, especially if I wake up earlier and have plenty of extra time I could be utilizing productively, but my brain and body have other ideas. It's hard to push through those feelings on days like today. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I have nothing else more important I could or should be doing; nothing else that would make me feel better or happier, so I just resigned myself to do it. And I'm so glad I did, because thankfully I felt dramatically better after I got it done. If you've got a case of the Mondays too, come get this 15 minute workout done with me and see how much better and more energized you feel after...
This is a 15 minute AMRAP of 5 different exercises. I used dumbbells for 2 of the exercises, but I am including modifications (that don't greatly effect the intensity of the workout) for those that don't have or don't want to use weights. The exercises are:
10 plank row + pushup 20 side lunge jumps 10 burpee jump tucks 20 sumo squat leg lift 20 weighted jump lunges Do as many rounds as you can with me in the 15 minutes. MODIFICATIONS: -For the plank rows + pushups, you can instead hold plank for a few seconds in between 10 regular pushups. -For the weighted jump lunges you can instead just do regular jump lunges, they're plenty tough enough without adding extra weight! So no excuses, we can all do this together, let's get it done!
I made it through 2 rounds and 4 of the plank row + pushups. How many rounds did you do? Let me know! This is such an incredibly energizing workout, I hope you enjoy it.
This Wednesday is my birthday, so I won't be filming or posting a new workout that day, but you can still expect a new yoga routine for Friday. I'm going to take the day off Wednesday to celebrate and relax. I will still be working out, I love working out on my birthday (because I'm deranged I guess), I just won't be sharing any new content that day. It's going to be a relatively low key day, everyone has work and school so I'll be by myself most of the day, but that's okay. I'll be celebrating other days this week, and on Saturday we're having my birthday party, which I actually still need to choose a good vegan cake recipe for. I can't even remember what I made last year, going to have to peruse my cookbooks and favorite websites and see what I want to do. But each year at my party we have pizza and ice cream cake, which is one of the few things I miss being vegan, but it's not a necessary indulgence. I probably will cheat and have a few m&m's though. They're not really necessary either, but we get every bizarre flavor they come out with and put out quite the spread; you can't resist tasting at least a few among 10+ different flavors. At any rate, hope everyone has a great week, I'll likely be posting some more of my favorite meals, indulgences, and maybe even some photos of my birthday celebrations over on instagram and facebook, so follow me there if you're so inclined. I'll update with any particularly interesting happenings here in my next post as well.
