Practice, practice, practice! Practice every day, even if just for a few minutes. I've been very dedicated to working through at least a few different yoga poses each and every day, and I have improved greatly. It just takes a few minutes each day, it really doesn't take much time at all; just being consistent makes all the difference. My chaturanga pushup looks stronger, my wheel looks relatively graceful, and my fish looks ridiculous. I hope it's not unsafe to hold it up as high as that, I didn't feel any added stress so my assumption is that it is ok. Always be cautious when attempting more advanced versions of poses and really listen to your body; if it feels like too much, back off. At any rate, I have a relaxing new yoga for the weekend that I hope you'll try with me...
This basic routine takes less than 40 minutes. It is:
3 sun salutations warrior 1 warrior 2 triangle bridge wheel plough double leg raises and hold fish to extended leg fish wide standing forward bend with shoulder stretch pigeon cobra to full cobra locust deep squat into garland revolved abdomen reclining hand to toe corpse Come try it with me to really unwind.
I hope you feel as relaxed and stretched out as I do after completing this.
