My new yoga for the weekend won't leave you with the aftereffects of a hangover either. Win win. This was a very relaxing, stretching routine. You really spend time working on opening up and creating more space in the hips which feels so amazing. A lot of us hold tension in our hips, so releasing that can be an incredible relief. Come unwind with me to see what I mean...

Practice, practice, practice! Practice every day, even if just for a few minutes. I've been very dedicated to working through at least a few different yoga poses each and every day, and I have improved greatly. It just takes a few minutes each day, it really doesn't take much time at all; just being consistent makes all the difference. My chaturanga pushup looks stronger, my wheel looks relatively graceful, and my fish looks ridiculous. I hope it's not unsafe to hold it up as high as that, I didn't feel any added stress so my assumption is that it is ok. Always be cautious when attempting more advanced versions of poses and really listen to your body; if it feels like too much, back off. At any rate, I have a relaxing new yoga for the weekend that I hope you'll try with me...
Find less than an hour to unwind and stretch it out with this relaxing new yoga routine. I've been working on putting this together all week, I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Try it with me...
I spent some time working on a few more advanced yoga poses today, and included some in this new routine. Come try them out with me...
I have the perfect routine for you to unwind with this weekend. You just need a little over 30 minutes to feel nice and relaxed...
Today I happily noticed an improvement in my upper body strength when I was working on pull ups, push ups, and handstands. I am really really pleased about this because I've been doing a lot of upper body workouts the past few weeks. Feeling and utilizing this strength motivates me to get creative and put together some of my own upper body workouts for all of us to try together. In the meantime, I have a new yoga workout for this weekend...
Yoga has always been a challenge for me to stick with on any kind of consistent basis. I have always wanted to regularly work on it and advance to much more challenging poses like all those cool, crazy, balance poses everyone posts on instagram; they're always so graceful and make it look effortless. The reality is it takes consistency and patience and a lot of hard work to get to that point. I've never quite maintained the necessary focus to keep working on it. There are some poses I am more advanced in, but anything involving balancing using my upper body remains a struggle. I do maintain flexibility by working on yoga at least once a week, but I want to start doing it more often than that. And I want to keep the routines fresh and interesting, and not feeling boring, slow, and endlessly drawn out. Sometimes a routine like that feels really amazing and is greatly needed and appreciated by your body, but on most days (if you lack the patience like I do) it can be difficult to commit to doing. So I created a fun new power yoga sequence for today that I really hope you'll enjoy as much as I did...
I'm not a perfect yogi, and I don't look all that graceful doing even the most basic of poses, but I like yoga. It makes my muscles feel good and it clears and calms my mind while I do it. Time always seems to pass quickly during yoga when you're meditatively flowing in and out of poses; you're just focusing so much on your movements, there isn't room for any other mental clutter.
Try this routine with me to see what I mean. It's just under 30 minutes long.
You hear audio cameos from both my mother and my cat in this one. Totally intended.
You've got to see how incredible my dinner was last night. Totally unexpectedly delicious. And I have another 5 minute workout for you... |
