Our muscles store up and hold onto so much awful tension that they can become very sore as this builds up over time. This week's yoga routine focuses on stretching out and opening up tight shoulders, a big area where tension is commonly held. Come ease your worries and stretch it out with me...
This workout is:
5 sun salutations 10 downward dog pushups extended puppy pose standing wide leg forward bend with shoulder stretch bridge wheel plough shoulderstand fish to extended leg fish locust cobra to full cobra child pose cow face bow garland reverse prayer pigeon to king pigeon lying spinal twist corpse It takes less than 40 minutes to get an amazing, relaxing stretch in. Your body will be so grateful you made the time.
This routine was inspired by boyfriend and his tight shoulders. My shoulders have been very sore lately too; I've really been working hard on my upper body the last couple weeks, so mine were just as in need of a good stretch. Let me know how you like this workout, this was a bit of a change of pace from my previous routines. It felt really good to me, it was just what I needed after feeling not so great for much of the week.
This has been such a whirlwind of a week. I've been so exhausted from hormonal fluctuations wreaking havoc on my system, but I'm finally coming out of it and ready to really hit it hard next week. I hope you'll join me. Have lots of food prep and cooking for weekly dinner for boyfriend later, been keeping me busy for much of the day yesterday and today. I'm hoping next week maybe it will be nice enough out to go for a run again, but I think we're expecting snow again so I'll have to see. Ah, winter. I've been sharing a few of my more interesting (and photogenic) meals over on instagram, come check it out if you have any interest. If not and you think I should post about them here on the blog too, let me know and I will try to do that. I'm excited for tomorrow's meal though: (all vegan) potato soup with roasted potato croutons, and lemon cheesecake with strawberry vanilla compote. Also potentially have a few other things, but in case boyfriend reads this post before I see him, I don't want to spoil anything for him. I like to overdo it, it's just my way as overbearing Italian girlfriend; this is an achievement he's unlocked and it seemingly cannot be undone. It's in my DNA. Anyone else love to cook/take care of/do nice things for their significant others/family members? It sounds like a ridiculous question now that I've said it, because typically when you care about someone, you want to do right by them. Anyway, I'm writing this post pretty late at night and my head's foggy so I don't think I should ramble on anymore. I hope everyone has a nice, healthy, relaxing weekend. Rest up for next week's hiit workouts; I'll see you back here for 'em ;)
